CQJP and TAST week 29

 

Take A Stitch Tuesday  http://pintangle.com/ week 29 was another stitch I liked doing.  It was  another new one for me…Basque Stitch from the Basque area of Spain.

 

                       

 

 

The third quarter of my Crazy Quilt Journal Project http://pintangle.com/  used the Basque stitch and I also added a little rick rack, again in red, white and blue.  For this months tatting I made a white star from the Elmo’s Snowflake pattern by Heather.

 

 

                       

CQJP and TAST week 28

I really enjoyed the stitch for week 28 of Take A Stitch Tuesday http://pintangle.com/.  It was Up and Down Buttonhole Stitch.  I had never done this stitch before and don’t think I exactly followed the directions but it turned out the same.

 

                              

 

The second quarter of my Crazy Quilt Journal Project block for July  http://www.cqjp2012.blogspot.com/  used the Up and Down Buttonhole Stitch.  It was nice to have a stitch I enjoyed after my struggle last week.

Again I used the red, white, and blue Perle Cotton and also continued with the lace used last week.

 

                               

 

I am enjoying working on my  July Red, White, and Blue block.

CQJP and TAST week 27

 

Week 27 of Take A Stitch Tuesday http://pintangle.com/  gave us the Bonnet Stitch, an old stitch used on baby bonnets.

This has been the hardest yet for me.  I had to look at a number of different illustrations and it still took many tries for me to finally get it.

 

                            

 

 

Since this Block for the Crazy Quilt Journal Project  http://www.cqjp2012.blogspot.com/  is for July I decided to use Red, White, & Blue for my  fabric colors.  I used red, white, and blue Pearl Cotton, size 8 to make the Bonnet Stitch.  I also added some red and white lace to this 1st quarter of my July Block.

 

                            

CQJP and TAST week 26

The stitch for week 26 of Take A Stitch Tuesday  http://www.pintangle.com/  was  Palestrina stitch, also known as Double knot stitch, Tied coral stitch, Old English knot stitch and Twilling stitch.

 

    

 

 

The 4th quarter of the June Crazy Quilt Journal Project  http://www.cqjp2012.blogspot.com/

used the Palestrina stitch.  There are also some Herringbone and Cable chain stitch as well as silver rick rack on this last quarter of June’s Block.   Another months block completed.

CQJP and TAST week 25

This weeks stitch for Take A Stitch Tuesday  http://pintangle.com/  was the Cable Chain stitch.  I found that if I made a mistake I wasn’t able to back up and correct it….so had to be very careful as I did the stitch.

                

 

 

On the third week of my Crazy Quilt Journal Project block for June  http://pintangle.com/  I used the Cable Chain stitch as well as chain stitch and running stitch.  It also has some silver rick rack and I tatted a purple butterfly  to add as well.

CQJP and TAST week 24

 

This weeks stitch has several names.  Buttonhole wheel, wheel stitch, and buttonhole rings.  It is a fun stitch.  I enjoyed doing this weeks Take A Stitch Tuesday.  http://pintangle.com/

 

                        

 

 

On the second quarter of my June Crazy Quilt Journal Project   http://www.cqjp2012.blogspot.com/

I used this week’s’ stitch the Buttonhole wheel as well as several others.  The others being running stitch, chain stitch, and detached chain stitch.  I also added a small piece of silver rickrack.

 

                         

CQJP and TAST week 22

Week 22  Take A Stitch Tuesday http://pintangle.com/tast-faq/ was similar to one we had before but with a knot added.  It was called Knotted Cretan Stitch. Since this was a 5th week in the month I added it to my 4th week.

 

                                  

 

I have been doing my Crazy Quilt Journal Project block in four quarters so since I had a fifth weeks stitch I added it to the center of my May Block.

CQJP and TAST week 21

Butterfly Chain  was  week  21’s   Take A Stitch Tuesday’s stitch.

I liked this stitch which is done in two steps.  A foundation row of three vertical straight stitches is followed by a twisted Chain stitch which ties them together.

 

                                   

 

 

The forth quarter on my Crazy Quilt Journal Project used the Butterfly Chain Stitch.   http://www.cqjp2012.blogspot.com/

I also added a small tatted flower with a bead center.

 

 

                                   

CQJP and TAST week 20

This week the stitch for Take A Stitch Tuesday http://pintangle.com/ was the Bullion knot stitch.  This is also known as bullion stitch, caterpillar stitch, coil stitch, grub knot, knot stitch, post stitch, Porto Rico rose and worm stitch.  I liked this stitch although sometimes I had a hard time keeping the thread wrapped around the needle as I did the final needle entry.               

 

                                

 

This third quarter of the Crazy Quilt Journal Project block used the Bullion knot stitch to join the various fabric pieces together.

CQJP and TAST week 17

 

The Wheatear stitch is this weeks stitch for  Take A Stitch Tuesday.

 http://pintangle.com/tast-faq/ This was a brand new stitch for me.  It was a bit hard at the start but I really liked it the more I did it.

 

                                  

 

 

On the forth quarter of my April Crazy Quilt Journal Project http://www.cqjp2012.blogspot.com  I added the Wheatear stitch in two colors and a motif from some lace.

 

                                     

 

This completes my APRIL CQJP BLOCK……..4 down and 8 to go.
